But beyond the story line, this new series depicts life in Barcelona with both a realistic and dreamlike quality. Wander streets of the Gothic Quarter late at night, peek into the private pools of elaborate residences, and marvel at shady arcades and courtyards that unfold across the city center. For me, having lived for a year in Barcelona, the cinematography of Merlí best captures the feeling of life in this fantastic city.
