Long before First Lady Eva Peron was widely known as "Evita!" (later played by Madonna, a node to her worldwide notoriety), she was a relatively unknown actress called Eva Duarte.
For an obscure dive into early Argentine film, watch her play a minor role in what is considered one of the best movies in the nation's history. In La Cabalgata del Circo, or The Circus Calvacade, this 1945 black and white classic, the lives, loves, and vicissitudes of a group of circus performers in the Argentine Pampas around the turn of the century are played out musically.
