Watch: 'Emmanuelle' and 'The Man with the Golden Gun'
For Dreaming of: 1974 was all the rage in Thai-Hollywood.

Films
In 1974, Thailand was a popular and captivating backdrop for cinema. Two fairly well-known films were shot on site in Bangkok and Phang Nga Bay, capturing scenes from the country long before it became overly recognized.
The French film 'Emmanuelle,' starring the late Sylvia Kristel, was the infamous series' debut. A soft core porn, which by today's standards would barely be rated-R, is more than just about sexual prowess: it showcases the travel journal of a global adventurer (Emmanuelle, played by Kristel) seducing people in exotic locales. In the film, she is a journalist sent to Thailand to interview the King, and ends up in a fantasy world long before Bangkok became notorious for it.

And, if you're a Bond fan, Roger Moore's second film starring as 007 was filmed amongst the stunning backdrop of the sculptural, limestoned Thai Islands in the Andaman Sea. Fictitiously positioned as the hidden layer of the laser-wielding enemy, Scaramanga, 'The Man With The Golden Gun' will send your mind on vacation with the postcard-worthy setting. There's also a classic car chase through Bangkok, and you can see some of the filming locations while you're tracing steps back through time as a British Spy.
