Stay: The Green O’ Hotel Review
A decadent dude-ranch splurge, halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier.

Western Montana
Just about 2.5 hours south of Glacier, and 4 hours north of Yellowstone is this hidden woodland lodge, a treat for those looking for a lux, Montana ranch experience en-route between the parks. A sister of the acclaimed 37,000 acre Paws-Up Ranch, the 12 modern cabins (or haus’s) of The Green O are a true indulgence. Indeed, at over $3000 usd per night, this place is quite special. Offering a range of experiences for the restless, adults ages 21+ have ATVs, bikes, hiking trails, fly fishing, horseback riding, stargazing, shooting ranges, an equestrian center, and wintertime skiing and dog sledding at their fingertips. There’s the central “social haus,” whose serious restaurant and notable chef calls the three daily meals there a “theater for the hungry.” (The restaurant allows outside guests who have advanced reservations). And the rooms are quite posh too: glass surrounds look onto the forest, each with a private hot tub, terraces, fireplaces, and ample space. After all, serenity is what The Green O offers at a premium. Guests mostly rave about it, calling it “almost heaven,” noting the food especially, but some guests find the housekeeping (skimping on towels) and service (a concierge that isn’t always on top of things) lacking compared to the price point.
12 rooms, from 3,125 USD per night (two night minimum)
