Hidden away from the throngs of tourists is this boutique hotel, tucked in the corner of the leafy Jardim das Amoreiras (“Mulberry Square”). A green-tiled facade leads into a small, dimly-lit lobby where interior design is thoughtful: spaces are cozy, but the furnishings are comfortable, and the colour choices are warm and welcoming. There’s a courtyard for breakfast, and a bar for drinks, where the bartender will certainly get to know your name and preferences. It’s that kind of place. Reviewers call it a “jewel box” for that reason: rooms can be small, so book a larger room if you prefer more space. But that doesn’t detract from others saying it’s their “all time favorite hotel anywhere,” “a wonderful find,” and “a gem of a hotel.” Given the rising prices of hotels in Lisbon these days, the rates are quite reasonable, especially in the off-season.
