Located 172 miles Southwest of Mahé, the Desroches Atoll is part of the Amirantes, one of the outer island groups of the glorious Seychelles Islands in the Indian Ocean. If you want a Robinson Crusoe-like experience, this would be close, as these small islands have only recently been available to outsiders--made accessible by posh, luxury resorts. At 900 acres, surrounded by 9 miles of pure, white-sand beaches, coconut palms, and a central runway, this flat island embodies the beach lifestyle. Getting There: Desroches is a 35 minute flight from Mahé - Seychelles International Airport, the principal port of arrival in the Seychelles. All transportation is arranged by Four Seasons Resort. Flights run only on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, once each way, mid-day. No luggage restrictions are mentioned on the website. 430 eur round trip.
