Awesome Architecture on the Atlantic.

See: Hassan II Mosque

Casablanca, Morocco

If there’s one reason to visit Casablanca, this mosque is it.

Casablanca is Morocco’s principal city…not its capital (Rabat), nor its more cultural havens (Fes and Marrakech) – It’s a big, modern city. Granted, there is a Medina, so there’s no mistaking you’re in Morocco, but this city isn’t everyone’s “Moroccan dream.” However, if you’re flying in from the States, or even from Europe, you are likely to stop in Casablanca. And if you do, you must visit the Hassan II.

Perched on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean with an almost infinite embrace of the horizon, this massive, marbled-complex is awe-inspiring. Completed by the French Architect Michel Pinseau in 1993, it is the world’s 14th largest mosque, the 2nd largest in Africa, with the second tallest minaret globally. It can accommodate 105,000 people. The details are extraordinary.

Open 9am - 3pm daily except for Fridays.
