Reflections: On Cozy Traditions
It’s that time of year when we retreat. The warmth of day replaced by the warmth of fire places and twinkling lights. We cozy up to the intimacy of a well-worn blanket, and a cup of hot cocoa. And we dream of travel – to the places that inspire our winter dreams.
In our Eighth Edition, we scale mountains, ever so high: first to some very chic hotels in the Italian Dolomites, then, we go hiking beneath Switzerland’s Matterhorn, and stay in a log cabin-inn near Montana’s Glacier National Park. There’s even a soundtrack that we’ve had curated for our alpine ascent. We go deep into the woods searching for unique hotel architecture: first to waterside cabins in Finland where there are hot saunas aplenty, and then take a trip back in time to a weekend at Quebec’s very, very cold Ice Hotel. We also indulge in the world of tradition - sharing our member’s favorite international holiday pastimes - and two winter recipes from Missouri and Portugal that remind us of our travels while we’re back at home.
