For Dreaming of: The superlative of clever advertising campaigns.

It's the story of a very clever marketing team, advanced beyond their time. Published in 2009, this book chronicles the advertising campaign of a simple Dutch hostel, that with a limited budget, embarked on a high tale of horror. Labeling itself as a rat-infested hell, lacking even towels and toilet paper, it garnered the attention of a specific target market: media-savvy backpackers. One review (or perhaps a campaign writer) noted:
“The rooms were like prison cells, with rickety old beds and metal lockers that didn’t close properly. Walking down the hallways was like walking through an abandoned old hospital… this is quite simply the worst hotel on Earth.”
The stories were adored by MTV, CNN, and the BBC. Sometimes, being a superlative, good or bad, can actually be a good thing. The hostel was booked solid for years.
