Listen: 'Women of [South] Africa'
For Dreaming of: A Soothing Female Chorus
Album
We love a good compilation of world singers–and Putumayo’s 2004 “Women of Africa” is one of our favorites–introducing us to a range of new voices we’d otherwise probably not hear.
Four female South African tracks are featured on this album. The tunes are light, happy, airy. I listen to them in the morning to brighten the day.
Take a listen:
“Le Tshephile Mang” by Judith Sephuma
“Mfan’ Omncane” by Dorothy Masuka
“Mayihlome” by Sibongile Khumalo
“Vimba” by Women of Mambazo
