We have just finished the 2025 Eurovision contest - arguably one of the continent's most popular concerts/television performances now going on for more than 50 years. Austria was crowned the winner of this year's hotly-contested stars.

Portugal, while only winning the contest once in 2017, hasn't typically risen to the top of the favorites. Even still, here are a few notable Portuguese EuroVision performances of years past:

Amar Pelos Dois (2017) - Portugal's only EuroVision winning song, which led to Lisbon hosting the contest the following year.

Oração (1964) - From best to worst, Portugal's first EuroVision entry placed last amongst nations.

O Meu Coração Não Tem Cor (1996) - The country's best performance of the 20th Century, finishing in sixth place.

Deslocado (2025) - This year's entry, an indie band originally from Madeira Island that sings about being displaced in mainland Portugal. It finished 21st.

"Toda as Ruas do Amor" (2009) - Considered one of the most lively and happiest of entries, finishing 15th.

"A Festa da Vida" (1972) - A handsome and tuxedoed Carlos Mendes' solo is a world apart from the hyper-performative stages of today. He finished 7th.

"Chamar a Música" (1994) - A ballad by a very pop-star-esque star of the mid 90s, finishing 8th.

"Senhora do Mar" (2008) - Another maritime-themed ballad, dramatically performed in flowing fabrics. 13th.
