Listen (& Watch): Branko's Açores Set
For Dreaming of: The perfect spot for a music video.
DJ Compilation
Admittedly, the renowned Portuguese DJ Branko, also known as João Barbosa, is not from the Azores. Born in Lisbon, he is of Syllogi's traveller mindset: his first album, Atlas, released in 2015, is directly inspired by his personal voyages to Cape Town, New York, Amsterdam, and São Paulo.
Premiering in 2021, Branko released this mesmerizing 37-minute video of him composing a set perched on top of one of the Azores' most incredible vistas: the volcanic caldera of Corvo Island.
Getting to Corvo is no easy task: there are semi-weekly flights to the teeny-tiny runway linking the postage-stamp sized village to the rest of the archipelago. From there, it's a small windy road, then a decent hike to the top of the volcanic rim. Fittingly, it's an incredible choice of location for a music video, Portuguese or otherwise.
