Listen: ‘Pure Brazil: Caipirinha’
For Dreaming of: A Brazilian Festa (Party)
Album/Mixtape
Brazilian music is an absolute reflection of an intoxicating and lively culture. Its iconic Bossa Nova of the 60s morphed into various other genres by the late 90s. One of our favorite collections of late 20th Century Brazilian song is this smartly curated 2003 release, combining classic voices of Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso, and Ivete Sangalo, with relative newcomers like Farofa Carioca. It’s a fun blend of upbeat tunes, a perfect compliment to an afternoon sipping cocktails by the pool or driving with the windows down on a summer’s day.
Our favorites from the collection:
“Samba de Orly” by Chico Buarque
“Festa” by Ivete Sangalo
“Meia Lua Inteira” by Caetano Veloso
“Moro no Brasil” by Farofa Carioca
