For Dreaming of: Dreamy Japanese meets American Song

Listen: Pink Martini and Saori Yuki 1969 Album

Album

Pink Martini - the Portland, Oregon-based band that is known for singing in a myriad of languages and often plays alongside many a town’s symphony orchestras - collaborated with Japanese chanteuse Saori Yuki in one of their most dreamy albums. Yuki, an acclaimed star in her home nation with an almost-operatic voice meets Martini’s eclectic mix of instruments and styles with mesmerizing ease. Within a year of its release, the album sold more than half-a-million copies in Japan alone, further proof of the captivating charm Yuki has on her fellow country-folk.

Our favorite tracks:

"Yuuzuki Evening"

"Du Soleil Plein les Yeux"

"Mayonaka no Bossa Nova"
