Intel: Look at a Map

Pro-tip: check out the satellite image of the immediate area to get a feel for your room view and your walk outside the front door.

Often, a hotel's name includes a geographic location that is a bit farther away than you might realize…like being at the airport when you’d rather be downtown. (Marketing can be deceiving!)

By looking at a hotel on a map, you can see just how far you'll be from the attractions you want to visit, and what immediately surrounds the property. You can also see some things that might be strategically overlooked in the hotel information.

For example, a client of ours was looking for an adults-only hotel with the quintessential sunset. While the reviews were generally positive, when we looked at the map and satellite images, we found that the hotel was very insular and most rooms didn’t offer views of the sunset. We also found that there was a kids’ water park right next door. Another client was booking a resort vacation on the beach – but when we looked at the satellite image of it, we realized there was major construction going on next door - not the best environment for relaxation.
