Dance the night away with traditional Scottish music.
Descended from the Gaelic word for ‘gathering’ or ‘party’, a ceilidh (“kay-lee”) is a Scottish tradition that will lift your spirits and keep your feet moving. Ceilidhs are often held at weddings, holidays, or major occasions, but you can also find them at venues around Scotland on certain nights. A famous one occurs every Friday night in Glasgow at Sloanes, or in Edinburgh at Ghillie Dhu. During a ceilidh, everyone comes together to perform Scottish country dances often involving hopping, spinning and skipping around. They are suitable for all ages, shapes, and sizes, but if you find yourself matched with a partner in a kilt, be prepared to be whipped and spun around with a lot of gusto.
