Reflections: On Taste

Taste has been a growing topic of recent in thinker’s circles. Taste is personal, subjective. Everyone has it, good or bad or just indifferent. It’s far more complex than simply ‘I like blue and I don’t like red…’. Some find that it is pretentious, but we have learned the lesson over the years that taste cannot be bought and does not correlate with a high price tag. Cultivating an expert level of taste does, however, take years of study and practice, with enough exposure to the world to discern greatness from so-so. And taste is ultimately a catalyst of hard-earned trust: you--the Traveller–must relate and appreciate a source’s taste level in order to truly align with it. To invest in it. To trust in it....
