Eat: Dignita Vondelpark
A little play space goes a long way.
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Amsterdam is well-known for being one of the most kid-friendly major cities in the world. The way they accommodate children, the abundance of outdoor activities, and the overall family-centric lifestyle of many Dutch people make it an easy place to visit with young ones. Dignita cafe is a prime example of this. It’s an all-day brunch restaurant serving high-quality foods, but what really stands out is the little play area they have in the center of the restaurant. It’s nothing extravagant or even spacious, but a breath of fresh air for those dining with young kids. Taking children to a restaurant is a notoriously challenging experience – getting the child to sit still, worrying about if they are going to cause a scene, etc. – but something as simple as a little play area completely takes those fears away. It gives parents a chance to actually eat their meals, and kids a chance to explore a bit in between bites.
Note: Dignita's play space is small and probably best suited for kids 2 and under.
