Michelin-starred private vegetarian dining in the heart of Tokyo.
Tokyo, Japan
Tasting menus from 110 usd
Set upon the grounds of the Seisho-ji Temple in the shadow of the Tokyo Tower is this discreet restaurant that has danced between one and two-star Michelin and the “World’s Best List” accolades for a decade. Moreover, having a menu entirely focused on vegetarian cuisine is somewhat of a rarity in Japan, where seafood-dominant menus often reign. But, it is the traditional atmosphere we love. Escorted by a lantern-carrying gentleman across the garden to a hallway where diners enter private rooms, one for each party, with a sunken table and windows to the garden. Servers don kimonos and kneel in a traditional fashion as tea is poured and beautiful dishes are served. In the bustle of Tokyo, the relaxed pace and formality is a welcome reprieve in this dining discovery!

Every publication will feature one unique restaurant, hotel, activity, or other travel discovery that stood out in our research. Some of these are established institutions that deserve repeat merit, while others are hidden gems that are often off the radar of most. Our commentary is meant to be brief, summarizing the scale and offerings of a place, as well as the best and worst of relevant reviews found across the web – allowing our clients to quickly discern if this a good fit for them.
