Stay: Metohi Kindelis, Crete

A dream-like farm-turned gem of a boutique in Western Crete

Stay: Metohi Kindelis, Crete

Chania, Crete, Greece

3 private cottages, from 310 eur

Located 3 km outside of Chania, this 17th century villa and farm has been meticulously restored and is the stuff of your European and culinary fantasies: Guests are treated to stone cottages that accommodate up to 4 guests (one bed plus sofa beds), each with a private pool, and garden terrace. Onsite parking. Each room also has a kitchen so you can experiment with market shopping and the garden’s harvest—and the fridge is stocked for your arrival. Breakfasts are made from property-harvested ingredients (there’s a monthly calendar for what fruits are ripe each month). Reviews are flawless, with people calling it a “gem,” “magical,” and “where I fell in love with Crete.” *Note this establishment sometimes requires a 4-night minimum.

Every publication will feature one unique restaurant, hotel, activity, or other travel discovery that stood out in our research. Some of these are established institutions that deserve repeat merit, while others are hidden gems that are often off the radar of most. Our commentary is meant to be brief, summarizing the scale and offerings of a place, as well as the best and worst of relevant reviews found across the web – allowing our clients to quickly discern if this a good fit for them.
